Immediate Opening: Assistant Vice President for Student Diversity

The University of Utah is seeking an Assistant Vice President for Student Diversity to provide leadership, education, and coordination of all student diversity support programs, initiatives, and
cultural events managed by the University of Utah’s Office for Diversity.

Reporting directly to the University’s chief diversity officer, the Assistant Vice President for Student Diversity coordinates and supervises the work and strategic development of the Center
for Ethnic Student Affairs (CESA), the Utah Opportunity Scholarships and Grants Program(UOS/G), the American Indian Resource Center (AIRC), and the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, andTransgender Resource Center (LGBT). Supervises the full-time directors, professional
coordinators/counselors, and other support staff in these programs, and works with these directors to develop short and long-term goals, guidelines for measuring programs’ progress andoutcomes, and develops new initiatives as necessary.

These student support programs serve approximately 3,000 students annually who self-identify as LGBT and/or historically
underrepresented students of color, including African American, Asian American, PacificIslander, Chican@/Latin@, and American Indian students.

Working with volunteer university committees, plans, directs, implements, and provides budgetary oversight of all major cultural awareness events and educational programs, including
the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration, Women’s Week events, Days of Remembrance,Diversity Awards, and other related events.

Required: PhD or EdD in higher education, sociology, psychology, or a closely related field, as well as demonstrated experiential and theoretical knowledge of successful recruitment, retention,
and graduation strategies for historically underrepresented college students of color/LGBTstudents. Minimum of five years of management, supervisory, and senior leadership experience
required in at least two college student support programs for historically underrepresented students, including African American, Asian American, Pacific Islander, Chican@/Latin@, and
American Indian college students. Must have experience with budget management and higher education resource allocation systems.
Excellent interpersonal, cross-cultural, and verbal/written communication skills. Demonstrated high degree of problem-solving and organizational skills. Preferred skills include grant writing
and development/fundraising experience. Demonstrated track record of innovative thinking and program development in the area of student diversity and inclusion with a strong reputation as a
problem solver.
