Jill Sobule
Singer & Songwriter
Only singer-songwriter Jill Sobule could combine lilting pop melodies with lyrical reference from FDR, to Billy Ray Cyrus, to the film Seven Years in Tibet. Sobule, who first gained mainstream recognition with her controversial single "I Kissed a Girl," is one of pop music's most insightful commentators. Sobule is also a remarkably engaging performer, with shows at once hilarious, moving and utterly devoid of self-importance. Her works are regularly featured in film & TV from Clueless ~ "Supermodel," The Truth About Cats and Dogs ~ "Where Do I Begin," to Harriet the Spy's "The Secretive Life," Sobule also appeared and performed "Truth Is You Lied" in Grace of My Heart. You can hear "Rainy Day Parade," from Pink Pearl, in Mystery Men. Jill has recently been on whirlwind tours with artists such as, Paula Cole, Don Henley and Warren Zevon. "Jill Sobule can claim her place among the stellar New York singer-songwriters of the last decade. Topical, funny and more than a little poignant, [it's] grown-up music for an adolescent age."
