Penny S. Brooke is a professor and the director of Outreach for the College of Nursing. She is the coordinator of recruitment and retention activities for underrepresented students at the college as well as principle investigator of HHS Grant to provide support services and stipends to qualifying students.  Contact counselors Sally Valdez and Valerie Flattes for specific information and to apply for stipends.

Valerie Flattes is a faculty member and part-time recruiter/student advisor in the diversity grant.  She works with students and assists them with their application to the college, reviews their essay, resume, and references.  She also serves as a mentor to pre-nursing and nursing students. She is the faculty advisor for the diversity interest group (DIG) at the college.

Sally Valdez is a counselor and diversity recruiter. One of her main responsibilities is to recruit more diversity specifically to the College of Nursing.  The Diversity Program identifies new students who graduated from high school and want to become nurses.  This program also supports the students with stipends, scholarships, tutoring and mentoring programs.
