LEAP – Learning, Engagement, Achievement, and Progress
LEAP (standing for “Learning, Engagement, Achievement, and Progress”) is a two-semester learning community for entering students, consisting of two three-credit hour courses and optional linked classes. Students take the two courses with the same professor and classmates; together they fulfill three requirements, including the University’s diversity requirement. LEAP enrolls roughly twice the proportion of underrepresented students as would be expected from the makeup of the overall student body, and offers three multi-year versions of the program that are limited to underrepresented students in Engineering, Pre-Law, and Health Sciences. Unlike other LEAPs, for which students simply register at Orientation, these multi-year programs require applications; contact Program Director Carolyn Bliss at 581-3283 or c.bliss@leap.utah.edu for further information.
