Center for Ethnic Student Affairs (CESA)
The Center for Ethnic Student Affairs (CESA) ensures that students of color have an opportunity to enjoy the benefits of a successful university education. CESA Program Coordinators provide academic advising, academic planning, counseling, sponsors a freshman cohort, tutoring services, career, and personal exploration, and serves as advisors to various ethnic student groups. Tricia Sugiyama Tricia provides assistance to Asian American freshmen, transfer, and other students who are interested in attending the University of Utah. She provides links to University and community services, develops activities and programs to increase student of color recruitment and retention, and works closely with several student groups on programs, activities, and development. |
TBA The main focus of the Pacific Islander Program Coordinator main is the retention effort of students on campus. In regards to outreach and community involvement, Fred focuses on the recruitment of students of color, assisting potential students with information about scholarships, service projects, and letters of recommendation. Additionally, he sponsors a cohort of students who may not meet University requirements, linking them up to other students and resources such as tutoring and financial aid. |

Luciano Marzulli Luciano works to maintain and develop recruitment and retention programs for students of color at the U in collaboration with M.E.Ch.A. and other university entities. He joined the CESA staff in August of 2006. He completed a B.A. in History and Chicana/o studies and an M.A. from the Department of Education, Culture and Society at the U. |
