Admissions

The Admissions Office determines the academic eligibility of all domestic and international undergraduate applicants and evaluates transcripts and processes all graduate applications.  They determine the students’ residency status for tuition purposes and evaluate, articulate, and post transfer credit from other institutions.  They also evaluate and post credit by examination (AP, IB, CLEP, Challenge, language and other special credit).

Nancy  advises students on admission requirements and reviews the applicant's credentials (transcript, test scores, core courses, and other documents needed for admissions). This is helpful for students in making good decisions about their options for attending a college or university. Nancy processes House Bill 144 affidavits for undocumented students that meet this House Bill's requirements.  Her door is open to all students and their families.

Carolyn Dyson supervises the Transfer Section and International Section at the University of Utah.  She evaluates transcripts for the purpose of transferring credit to the University of Utah or for verifying degree status for International Students who wish to apply to graduate programs.  The office also evaluates Advanced Placement Credit (AP), International Baccalaureate Credit (IB), College Level Educational Program Credit (CLEP), and answers questions about language exams used for the purpose of obtaining credit. Carolyn also prepares petitions for those students seeking credit from institutions whose credit is not accepted at the University of Utah.  The International Admissions Section also answers basic questions concerning student visas and the status of students who are not U.S. citizens.  We also issue the I-20 that students need to apply for a student visa.  We work closely with the office of the Foreign Student Advisor on campus to ensure our students who have visas understand the rules and regulations as determined by the Immigration Authority.
